Autumn in Bucks County, Pennsylvania: Landscape and Nature Photography

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
Albert Camus

I love autumn in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.  For photographers, there is so much to offer:  rolling hills, rivers, lakes, state parks, and historic architecture, all enhanced by the warm colors of fall.

I recently led an "Autumn in Bucks County" photography workshop.  We covered topics like exposure, composition, post-processing and HDR (high dynamic range) photography.  We spent one full day - sunrise to after sunset - in the field, photographing many of my favorite Bucks County locations. About a week later I got together with many of the participants to share and critique our images. Its always interesting to see how different people focus on diverse things in the same setting.  The group members had taken some really beautiful and creative shots.

With the exception of the Cabin Run Covered Bridge photograph (from October, 2014), I took all of the images below between late September, 2015 and November 1st, 2015 (the day of the workshop, when I took about half of these photographs).  That day, we started with the sunrise in New Hope, followed by several locations in Upper Bucks County: in Pipersville, we visited the Tohickon Creek, the Cabin Run Covered Bridge and surrounding area, and the High Rocks Vista section of Ralph Stover State Park.  After lunch, we visited the Fonthill Castle (Doylestown), the Frankenfield Covered Bridge (Point Pleasant) and ended with sunset views of the Delaware River from the Lumberville Footbridge (Lumberville).  For those interested in exploring Bucks County and taking your own photos, I have indicated the locations under each image.
